About Humber College

Humber Polytechnic

At Humber, we offer a distinct third option between community colleges and universities—The Third Lane™.

As Canada’s Polytechnic™, Humber has the competencies, breadth, and depth of talent and programs to shape a new lane for students, employers, and communities. It facilitates wealth creation and equal opportunity, thrives on innovation, and derives learning from failure.

At Humber, we are defining what it means to be a polytechnic.

Humber offer students a polytechnic education. Teach theory, add in practical, hands-on training and work with employers to give students opportunities to learn in real-world settings. Set in state-of-the-art and creative learning spaces, this unique approach unleashes innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and prepares students for the careers of today and tomorrow.

History

In the early years of Toronto, the Humber River provided the local industry with the energy source and communications link it needed to flourish. In 1967, Humber College took on that heritage, dedicating itself to the communication of ideas and energy that would foster lifelong learning.

The Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAATs) were established by provincial legislation in 1967 in response to the need for a skilled workforce. The mandate of CAATs was to provide accessible, quality career education and training to enhance the social and economic development of Ontario and to meet local, regional and global marketplace demand.

Features

The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) allows students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to gain valuable Canadian work experience.  Read more: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad.asp
