The first weeks at a new college can feel like a small adventure: a different bus stop, an unfamiliar building code and a late class that ends after the campus has gone quiet. Fanshawe College has pointed students toward one practical companion for those moments—the free Fanshawe Stay Safe app. In an update published on September 14, 2026, the college highlighted the app as a quick route to campus safety information, maps and support. For international students still learning the rhythm of London and their new campus, having those tools together on one phone can make everyday movement feel far less uncertain.
The app gathers several useful features in one place. Students can contact Campus Security Services directly, check interactive maps, review emergency procedures and find crisis-support resources. Safe Walk, Friend Walk and Work Alone tools add another layer of reassurance when someone is studying late, crossing campus after an evening lab or heading to transit alone. The app also includes London Transit Commission information, so the same screen that helps a student locate a building can also help them plan the next part of the trip home.
The most important setup takes only a few minutes. After downloading the app from the App Store or Google Play, students create an account and select their campus, building, site or location. If that choice does not appear automatically, Fanshawe says students can open Settings, choose Campus Notification Settings and save the correct location. That step matters: it allows the app to deliver information and updates connected to the place where the student actually studies, instead of leaving them to sort through notices for another campus.
A safety app cannot replace paying attention to one’s surroundings or knowing when to ask for help, but it can place the right contacts and instructions within easy reach. For a newcomer, that may mean less time wondering whom to call, where to walk or what an alert means—and more confidence getting on with class, work and campus life. Fanshawe’s message is simple and useful: download the app, enable notifications and set the correct campus before the moment arrives when those details really matter.
